Dr. Sawsan Rashdan is a highly accomplished medical professional with a diverse educational background. She was born in Damascus, Syria, and completed her medical degree at the Faculty of Medicine in Damascus in 2007. Following her graduation, she pursued further training in the United States.
Dr. Rashdan was part of SAMS Medical Mission in Syria in September 2023.
Dr. Rashdan completed her internal medicine residency at Indiana University in 2013. She then went on to specialize in hematology and oncology, completing a fellowship at the same institution in 2016. Her dedication to her field led her to her current position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine Division of Hematology and Oncology at UTSouthwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Rashdan is a devoted wife and mother. She is married to Anas Alomar, a member of SAMS, and they have three children together, aged 12, 9, and 3.
In addition to her medical career and family life, Dr. Rashdan has a passion for cooking. She enjoys experimenting with different recipes and flavors in her free time.
Dr. Rashdan has made significant contributions to SAMS through her involvement and dedication. She has been actively volunteering to train and educate oncologists in Northwest Syria. In September 2023, she participated in a medical mission to Northwest Syria. Dr. Rashdan is also a member of the SAMS oncology committee. She has been associated with SAMS for three years and continues to make a positive impact through her work with the organization.
