Guest Profile: Dr. Wael Fahed Al-Husami

Dr. Wael Fahed Al-Husami is a Jordanian cardiologist, interventional cardiologist, scientist, and medical educator with an extensive career spanning over two decades in medicine, leadership, and international health.

He currently serves as:

  • Medical Director of International Health and senior member of the Executive Health Team at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Massachusetts.
  • Faculty member at Tufts University School of Medicine, Brown University’s Alpert Medical School, and the BIDMC Disaster Medicine Fellowship – Harvard Medical School.
  • Visiting Professor of Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Dr. Al-Husami earned his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Jordan (1996) before completing his residency in internal medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and advanced fellowships in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, vascular medicine, and endovascular peripheral intervention through Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston.

Beyond his clinical expertise, Dr. Al-Husami has held a number of leadership and advisory roles, including serving as a Senior Medical Quality Expert with the Dubai Health Authority and Medical Director for hospital medicine, cardiac catheterization labs, and executive health programs across the U.S.

He is also a board member of the New England Chapter of the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) and an active member of its cardiology committee, contributing to humanitarian relief efforts and medical education in Syria and beyond.

Dr. Al-Husami’s research in cardiovascular disease has been widely published in leading medical journals, including the Journal of Invasive Cardiology, American College of Cardiology, Endovascular Today, Journal of Thoracic Disease, and the American College of Physicians.
