Dr. Jihad Shoshara

Dr. Jihad Shoshara is the President and Co-Owner of Pediatric Health Associates, one of Illinois’s largest independent pediatric practices. He joined the practice in 1999 after completing his residency in pediatrics at Children’s Memorial Hospital (now Lurie Children’s). In 2018, he became the president of the practice. Pediatric Health Associates has 17 physicians and 3 nurse practitioners, across 5 offices in the western suburbs of Chicago.

Jihad is married to Dr. Sofia Shakir, who is also a co-owner of Pediatric Health Associates. They have three children and enjoy spending family time together. Jihad is a former athlete and enjoys working out. He and Sofia emphasize the importance of volunteering. They are involved in various community initiatives, including coordinating a Thanksgiving turkey drive that provides 4,000 turkeys to needy families on Chicago’s South Side. They also serve on the Board of the DuPage Children’s Museum.

Jihad advocates for expanding medical care at both the federal and state levels through his work with the American Academy of Pediatrics.

He has been a SAMS member since 2007. He has participated in seven SAMS medical missions (primarily in Jordan) since 2015, and has organized the mission twice. He has served as chair of the Jordan mission committee and on the Communications committee for SAMS. Jihad has also represented SAMS in media discussions, speaking on the organization’s work and initiatives.

He is grateful for the opportunity to serve through SAMS and looks forward to continuing his contribution in the future.
