We take great pride in showcasing SAMS Member and volunteer Dr. M. Luay Alkotob, a distinguished cardiologist whose remarkable journey and invaluable contributions stand as a beacon of inspiration. Hailing from Damascus, Syria, Dr. Alkotob boasts an illustrious educational trajectory that underscores his unwavering commitment to excellence.

His academic journey began with graduation from Damascus University in 1996, followed by a prestigious residency in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic between 1998 and 2002. Then, he pursued fellowships in cardiovascular medicine at the University of Connecticut and in interventional cardiology at Boston University.

Presently, Dr. Alkotob is a managing partner at the Advanced Cardiovascular Clinic PC in Flushing, MI. Concurrently, he serves as the director of the Cardiac Cath Lab at Hurley Medical Center and holds the title of Assistant Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Alkotob cherishes his role as a family man, sharing his life with his spouse and four children. His pursuits of volunteering, literary exploration, and educational initiatives epitomize his dedication to personal advancement and community welfare.

Dr. Alkotob’s commitment to volunteerism extends to SAMS. Over a span of 11 years, he has played a pivotal role in SAMS medical missions in Jordan and northern Syria, assuming leadership and organizational responsibilities while performing numerous critical cardiac interventions. His tireless efforts have not only elevated the standard of medical care in these regions but have also infused hope and healing into the lives of countless individuals.
