SAMS Scholarship Program – Supporting Syrian Medical Graduates
Program Overview
The SAMS Scholarship Program provides financial support through interest-free loans to Syrian medical graduates applying for residency in the United States. Over the past decade, SAMS has proudly supported more than 140 graduates in pursuing their career goals, helping them continue their medical journey and serve communities worldwide.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:o
- Syrian medical school graduate or Syrian national (foreign graduate).
- Applying for the ERAS Match this year.
- Passed USMLE Step 1.
- Achieved a minimum score of 220 on USMLE Step 2.
- Hold an ECFMG Certificate.
- Demonstrate English proficiency (via interview).
- Show financial need.
Required Documents
Please prepare and submit the following documents with your application:
- USMLE Step 1 & 2 score reports
- ECFMG certificate
- Medical school diploma
- Passport (first page)
- Valid U.S. visa or proof of status
- Personal photo
- Updated CV

Application Process
- 1. Prepare your documents

- 3. Attend phone/virtual interview
- 4. Receive decision & award
Important Notes
- Applying does not guarantee funding. This is a highly competitive process with limited resources.
- All loans are interest-free and must be repaid once you successfully match into residency.
- If you do not match into residency, your loan is forgiven.
